RE XXX damage/value

I got a 12" xxx in the mail that came damaged and I'm wondering how much to claim for on the insurance

1) The rubber part that goes around the outside and has the screw holes in it has a 2" tear. How much for a replacement and would I have to send back to RE?

2) The magnet has several large chips and has easily lost 2 cubic cms of volume. How much would this affect resale?

its a used sub so theres no warranty but that doesn't bother me. It was shipped insured through USPS and I'm trying to find out how much to claim

Claim the cost of the sub to buy. Just claim the cost of a new sub and say its damaged and you have to buy a new one now.

They may even let you keep the damaged speaker, then you will have a new one and another to recone or sell. Your gain!

since it was used, are you sure the seller was honest in the discription of the sub...he could've lied and is now blaming shipping due to the damage..,.?

thats what happened with a friend of mine, 

another buddy had his equipment stolen and the amps were discontinued and so insurance had tyo buy the model up from them

An insurance adjuster isn't going to value the equipment/loss based on what some guys on a message board think. Call RE, tell them the damage, ask them for an estimate. Either that or try the whole new sub route. Either way, our guesses here don't mean anything.
