RE XXX 18 Ported - The Box/Build/Finish

very nice craftsmanship

but the woofer will not CUP the inner volume properly

the dead space on the outsides of the ports will not be effective airspace..

the woofer will perform like it is in a smaller enclosure

I would have put the ports to the sides and refrained from creating dead space

other than that it looks really good

Love the build. Great craftmanship.

My only thing is although the sub does pressurize the box the area on the other side of the ports is basically dead space to delaying the rear phase of the woofer. Which will throw the tuning off a little.

So your trying to tell me that that speaker creates air pressure in that box thingy and that air needs somewhere to go?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I was rather thinking the box would be better off with a different type of bracing.
No, that's not what I'm telling you. What I'm saying is that the pressure works BOTH ways and causes the air in the port to move back and forth. The air doesn't really leave the port inside the enclosure or outside the enclosure. The port is not a leaf blower ******* air from inside the enclosure out of it and pushing it out. Just because it feels like this when you put your hand by it does not mean it's true.

THANK GOD, someone who understands the actual dynamic principals how the subwoofers mechanical function effects the air within the enclosed environment of a vented interior.

Though, ya do know all the so call " know it alls " are going to totally disagree with your evaluation of these dynamic principals given the tendency of what is already to been stated previously and held to be establish fact.
