are the RE SX series good for heavy metal...??? thinking the larger versions 15" and preferably the 18".....

what im looking for are sharp bass, not the low long rap-type of base, i wanna hear all the beats of a dual base-pedal...

The type of sounds you achieve is more based on the enclosure setup that you use.

The SX or many other subs for that matter can be setup for punchy rock sound or low deep rap bass. Either way it depends on the box.

what kind of box would you recommend??? reason i want the 15/18 is mainly that i can get them dirt cheap....but also the showfactor a big cone bring..... how does RE deal with power, gonna use a Soundstream XXX-10000 on them....

like mentioned, it's install and enclosure dependent. you can make an 18 as punchy as a 10...

2 cubes @ 36hz to 40hz will make that sx sound great. i used to own a pair of them...

edit: i just read your reply, they are 1000rms but if you know what you're doing and don't clip them or play them too far below their tuned frequency, can be given much more...

you need the mt model for that kinda power handling.

Ummm, no.

I've used 8s, 10s, 12s, and 15s, guess what I only listen to heavy metal, and guess what, the biggest difference between all of them is output. Obviously it's easier for the larger sized drivers to have a higher output, but that by no means dictates whether or not it will sound good. Installation is key, it needs to be designed with his goals in mind, and not what someone else thinks they know.
