No i dont have the 1208d hooked up to it. If you read one of my earlier posts i say that i had a Cadence TXA-1000D hooked up to it. Why do you ask?
i'm pretty sure you clipped the shit out of that sub with that amp. it's why i asked.
i ran a 15" SX off a sundown 1500D and i never got my tinsels to snap or get my coils to smoke or stink.

It seems pretty obvious that this is from exceeding mechanical limits, not thermal limits.
Is your box size and tuning the same as the OP's?
maybe kickers got somethign going with their tinsel placement.

im pretty sure i wasnt clipping the sub. There was nothing that identified that it was clipping. If it were I would have heard something not sounding right. I was definitely not pushing the sub hard enough for it to be clipping.
MX has a larger mounting diameter so you would have widen out the box. Also that amp should not have popped the sub, I have ran 1800 rms on a SX with no problems.

alright than.... so i was going over the SX's mechanical limit.. What should I do to make sure that this would not happen again? Would this not have happened if the tinsels we longer, so they wouldnt have snapped?

This make no sense.... first of all i wasnt overpowering the sub with my txa-1000D, i wasnt clipping, i wasnt playing the song that high(it was at 21/35), and it not a song with huge amounts of bass. All I can think of is that it was extremely humid out today and hot.
hummid and hot days don't cause tinsels to snap.
who knows what you did. who cares at this point since your getting a different sub. lol

well i care cuz if i do get an RE MX i dont want the same thing to happen
if you get an MX, get a good amp that pushes 1500-1600. have the gains set properly by someone at a shop.
don't rely on someone in a shop, learn for yourself so you have no one to blame.
