The 2 12"s se's would have more cone area and would be louder.

Oh I know it can. I used to feed mine 950each daily

I have heard they can handle quite a bit more than rms rating.

My friend keeps telling me to get the kickers but I've heard that overall RE has much better quality

Kickers are dirty sounding subs, loud yes. But the SQ is not there at all.

Yep just get the re's and show your buddy what is up, especially when you tell him the price you paid for the se's.

Here is what I would do man, u have the room so use it. Save some cash and get 2 15" RE SEs. Put them in about 7~8cf@32hz ported and u will be very happy.

The main problem is that Im trying to stay close to $450-500 with subs-amp-wiring
