The BL, in my opinion, was just an overall better sounding driver. The Nightshade had a more "hollow" sound to it where the BL would replicate the notes more realistcally than the Nightshade could. I'm by no means saying not to get the Nightshade because I think it's a very capable driver, I just think the BL sounded better on all types of music.
The 15" tends to have a flatter response than the 12" model - I think you might like the 15" more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

With the 12" it is hard to avoid a peak followed a dip in response.

I want a musical setup that is loud and drops low
I was thinking about two 15 RE SE's sealed, but now i kinda like the idea of 1 sundown nightshade ported....

They should take about the same box space.....

I dont have room to port SE's

What is the publics opinion?
It's pretty easy to get mid to high 140s out of a single Nightshade 15" ported. Not uncommon at all to see as much as 146-148 out of a daily friendly box and one of them.

In a more SPL oriented setup I've done as high as 153.0 dB with one Nightshade 15" @ 50 Hz, but don't expect that in a daily driver as I had two 3000Ds on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMO... they also sound quite good according to most customers and according to my testing as well. The newest Nightshades feature more linear excursion than the older ones as well which will benefit you in a daily low-tuned setup thanks to lowered distortion and higher linear displacement.

I would venture to say that MANY more people have heard SEs and not heard the Nightshades so are voting with what they know - but the Nightshades are quickly gaining popularity as people get to hear and experience them, we build more and more every week!

That is good to know!

I wish they were for sale on the forum used //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Im trying to spend around 300-400ish

The SE's are 334 shipped which is why they are so tempting

If i bought a nightshade i can send it to you to get a recone w/ new soft parts and cooling in the motor. Also can you recone to an 18?

ehh cone area is tempting, I know both setups would be loud but the SE's would have better SQ..
How much airspace do SE's need for two 15's common chamber?

I can fit 6-8 cubes where I am if i wanted....

If i could fit the SE's ported it would be no contest IMO
with that much space you could easily do 2 se 15's ported they like about 7.5 cubes

im not saying they are a better choice but you could easily do them
