how were they both setup?It seems that a nightshade should sound better

10'' BL was 1.6@35 and the 12'' Nightshade was about 1.5@36 or so because it displaces more than the BL. I added 2 baffles to the box the BL was in to allow the Nightshade to fit. To be fair I only used the Nightshade for around 2 weeks so it didn't fully break in. But even when the BL wasn't broken in it sounded better than the Nightshade did, although the Nightshade got louder off the same power.

the se's WILL drop lower and sound better doing it!

and 2 15 se's vs 1 nightshade 15 will be hard to determine which will be louder over the other.

When you say sounded better, im guessing it dropped lower had a flatter response (not as peaky) or did it just hit faster notes? (bass kick ect..)

If they were ported the SE's would win. I am just wondering because sealed they would take less space which is easier, one thing about the SE's is that i can always port whereas the SD i cant get it any better... Only disadvantages of the RE's IMO is build quality b/c they are made in China or so I hear.... and Customer Service

The BL, in my opinion, was just an overall better sounding driver. The Nightshade had a more "hollow" sound to it where the BL would replicate the notes more realistcally than the Nightshade could. I'm by no means saying not to get the Nightshade because I think it's a very capable driver, I just think the BL sounded better on all types of music.

Yes I have experience with both driver's. SE do sound better then the nightshade. I do not think either got lower then the other, but the nightshade is a very well built woofer so you will get more use of the nightshade. Why not 2 - 12" nightshades? For BL versus SE, the SE sounds better. From the 3 choices my first would be the nightshade, then the SE, then the BL.

What are you metering with your SE's??? Derek on here has hit 148's with a 15" Nightshade and only a SAZ-1500D. I'll be metering mine in a trunk car on the 15th

ehh cone area is tempting, I know both setups would be loud but the SE's would have better SQ..

How much airspace do SE's need for two 15's common chamber?

I can fit 6-8 cubes where I am if i wanted....

If i could fit the SE's ported it would be no contest IMO

i'm looking to buy 2 18's but what a better quaility sub 2 nightshades, 2 death penalty or 2 fi audio btl fully loaded running off 2500 watts each? need all the info i can get before i buy
