RE SE12, About going ported.

Ok, I've played with it in a sealed enclosure, sounds very nice and gets pretty low and decently loud....... but not loud enough. I'm limited with space so I'm going to follow RE's reccomendation of 2.0ft3 @ 33Hz. I know it's going to be louder and loose some SQ, but will I loose a lot of SQ? And is this going to be a night and day difference in SPL?

you will not notice the SQ difference, when i switched from sealed to ported on my SE i think SQ was better...... but thats just my opinion

Cool, thanks. Don't get me wrong, I like the sealed enclosure it's in, I've got a JL 500/1v2 and I'm just not happy with the SPL without clippin' it. I figured it would do better with a ported box as long as I didn't loose a lot of SQ.

i went through about 4 or 5 different sealed enclosure sizes tryin to get the sound i wanted...and finally got it right when i went ported

That's a better way of putting it.... I can't get the sound I want out of a sealed.

defantly go ported it willl be night and day in terms of spl and the sq will still be there i dont think these subs loose sq at all lol.

Wouldn't the box have to be bigger though? I'm limited in space.... I'd like to tune to 30 if I could.
