Re Se or Soundstream T4 or aq?

It really is. When I think of a "good" sub, I think of something that's accurate and moderately efficient. I want something that'll represent a double bass drum accurately, handle a decent amount of power and yield solid output.
Other people think a "good" sub yields massive spl and handles ungodly amounts of power. They aren't concerned with accuracy, and only want to hit 150 on a termlab.

I'm not going to talk $hit about anyone's equipment, so if you like Soundstream that's your opinion. Pesonally, I'd look elsewhere. Sure, the T4's have an attractive pricetag, but sometimes spending a little more money is the right thing to do. It all depends on what you're looking for in a subwoofer...
exactly what im looking for. clarity and loudness. and from what ive heard, the ses will do that for me.

im not one to knock peoples equipment either, but misfit and i deff. talked in pm and after hearing some more, even if it is preference, i dont think the t4s are gonna do what i want

Well that's not really a fair comparison. I mean you can have a powerful sub that has a good, smooth response even if it's not got razor accuracy and it sounds good for 90% of the music that's thrown at it. If you're not going to testing the thing with lots of low-freq harmonies and speedy technical rhythms, then as long as it has a good sound when hitting the low tones I'd as it's fine, right?
That's what I'm getting at is all. "Good" is largely dependent on what you're throwing at it. What sounds good with bass-heavy rap or electronica might not be accurate enough for speed metal or jazz, and something that's got the accuracy for really subtle/complex music won't have the power for the price.

You might need a 9 or 10 on the accuracy scale because of your musical choices, but when the song just has sub-80Hz tones done on the computer then as long as it can hit them without sounding like an ox fart it's all gravy.
I wasn't really making a comparison. Just a statement on what you want from a subwoofer. I agree with you actually. No subwoofer is perfect in every aspect. That's something that more new car audio enthusiasts need to realize. You can't just pick your sub based on it's rated power handling. Everything from musical preference to vehicle type has to be considered.

But, lots of people in the scene could care less about accurate subs. As long as it makes their roof flex to the newest Lil Wayne song, they're satisfied. I require more than that...

Big problem with doing this all over the internet: you can't actually hear what you're dealing with. :p
Agreed. But there are very few shops that carry anything other than "big name" equipment. JL this, Alpine & Kicker that, blah blah blah. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

well the whole thing in my setup im looking for, is to be better than w3s. i dont wanna sell my stuff to buy new stuff thats no gping to be better. thats just dumb to me

plus i want my new stuff to put a hurting on the w7.

and its like i was sayin lastnight, where i live, its hard to hear anything other than jl, rf or kicker. there only weebee audio here, other than the bestbuy, which who cares about there stuff

u think so, both sound good, maybe i just prefer the sound of the w3 more, now they might have a bit more output, but not by much, w3's aren't getting murdered by any means
You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree with it.

The SE's are much beefier, handle twice the power, deliver comparable sq and yield a tremendous upgrade in output compared to the JL W3. I've owned both, and either driver is a decent choice for SQ, but the SE does murder the W3....in nearly every way...

lol word, i want the murderous sub.

this thread is full of the blind leading the blind. Get 2 sdc2.5's, give em 1500w total (750 each) and enjoy
Wrong. The guy told us which subs he's looking at and asked for our opinion in regards to which is better. Of the subs mentioned, the SE is superior.

Of course there are better subs than the RE SE, but this kid didn't ask about them...

Yeah the price area changes considerably then. Needing 600RMS for a single 15 versus 600 each for a pair, plus comparing one $220 15 versus two $140 12's means adding, what, $200 or so to the setup? Not to mention space requirements.

EDIT: Misfit, are the SDC's seriously on par with the others mentioned here? I mean an SDC15 is $160, which is crazy cheap if it's as good as the rest.

Wow, I thought they were more expensive than that.

I've never owned an Audioque sub, man. I personally have no idea what they sound like in reality. I made that comment based on what I've read about the company. They seem to put out very reliable equipment, and I'm shocked that the SDC's are so cheap...
