RE SE 12" Question

I have a RE SE 12" and have had it hooked up for about 3 days, it hits MASSIVE lows but no mids or highs like all other subs I've heard, is it a wiring problem? cd player? amp? I don't think it's the sub because it don't even hit decent during double bass during metal or good on any rock for that matter, I'm just curious as to what the problem could be, thanks ahead of time for helping guys, btw my amp is a JBL GTO 1201.1
