Re-cover with vinyl?

My current trunk looks like this...

I want to cover the carpet in vinyl. Would it best to pull the carpet off or put the vinyl on top of the carpet?

You can't vinyl over the carpet and expect it to look good, IMO.. Get yourself as smooth a surface as possible, then vinyl it.. I think it looks good the way it is.. It would look better if the carpet matched the stock carpet, but still it doesn't look bad.. What color vinyl are you thinking?

I was thinking about a dark gray or black. If it will require too much I might end up leaving it.

i would pull it off...on second thought, i would leave it like it is though
