Im debating getting a new stereo system. I've heard of JL for years, but never heard of RE. I was pretty set on JL until a shop here reccomended RE. I was thinking 2 12" subs...he suggested the SE's. are these 2 worth comparing?

yes, they are worth comparing. RE has been around a while, not as long as JL, but thats not to say either is better than the other.

the JL's will most assuredly be more expensive...

they both make solid equipment

JL is way overpriced IMO

actually its not my opinion - its a fact lol

some RE stuff isnt cheap either tho

both companies higher end stuff is some of the best (XXX - w7) but if you're talking about their entry/lower end models - i think you can probaly do better than both for the money.. and even still find something comparable to their topend stuff for like half the price

Retail on the RE stuff is outrageous. The bang for the buck was much better before they went corporate.

hmm...sounds reasonable...the 12" SE was priced at $230. I dont mind paying that price, but I wanna make sure its worth the cash... 2 12's and 1 1000W amp (U S Amp) to power them...

They both make quality products that cost more than competing lesser-known brands which may offer you more "bang for the buck".

What exactly are you looking for, a sub that works well in a small sealed box, ported box? Power handling range? Any reason you're going with US Amps other than the fact that it seems the shop is pushing the RE/USamps combo? Price range on both 12's around $460 than?
