RE Audio?

i have 3 re audio *** 10's and they are rated at 600 rms a piece. These are my 1st woofers from RE and was wondering if they could take more power than that a piece. I have heard that Re woofers are capable of taking well over the RMS they provide but i just want to hear some insight on people's experience with them before i try and take the chance of blowing them lol.

Thanks

I dont know a lot about newer models but the older models could take more than there RMS. I sold an old style RE SX to a friend that is giving it about 1400 watts without a problem.

Yea but i believe the older model sx took about 1000 rms if im not mistaken. I know they can take a lot of power i just don't want to overdue it seeing its for daily use.

If you put em in the manufacturers suggested sized box, I'd prolly feel safe giving em a good 750-800w each. I think the mechanical limits will go before you reach thermal on their subs, thus why their suggested sized boxes are usually on the small side and why they advertise them taking more power than rated.

You'll be fine. I have been throwing 750wrms each at my RE SE 12's for the past 3 years.

I am actually upgrading to a 2000 wrms amp so each will be receiving around 1000 wrms

Also keep in mind that just because you hook a 1000 watt amp up to your sub does not necessarily mean the sub is ever actually seeing a 1000 watts. This is why I always take comments with a grain of salt that go like this "I ran 1000 watts on mine, and it was fine"... its the same as the guy who says "I ran 1000 watts on mine, and it blew up"... well either of those examples could explained by many things that do not involve the ability of the speaker to dissipate 1000 watts worth of heat. The guy with the 1000 watts and was fine may have a small charging system, or artificially low gain settings, so that his amp never puts out the rated spec. And the guy who blew his sub on that power may have been clipping the hell out of the signal, and the sub was in fact seeing a lot more than 1000 watts. Unless you are quoting a clamped power rating, you are really guessing when you suggest your sub is seeing the number of watts your amp is rated for.
