RE Audio SE/X enclosure suggestions

I've got a single RE SE/X 12D4. I had it in a slant ported box that I just threw together. I guess I should've done my research before doing this cause it sounded awful. RE recommends a 2CU ft enclosure @ 33Hz and I was way off. I ran the numbers tonight on a program and turns out I was 1.58 CU ft @ 47.7 Hz. Soooo, I thought to myself before knowing what I'd done that ported boxes ****. I was wondering what all the hype was about because it just had almost no lower bass but the higher frequency bass sounded great. Today I built myself a nice box for my truck. It's a sealed box and fits really nice but it seems that I now have no high frequency bass. I found a thread on here with plans for a 2 CU ft box @ 32 Hz. I think I may try this cause all I'll be out is the price of the MDF board. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Oh by the way, I now have a nice sealed enclosure that fits a TBSS if you're interrested, let me know. I'm sure it would fit any Trailblazer with exception to EXT models.

it could be because you went from a ported box tuned high to a flatter response setup, so it sounds funny

i have a 12" RE SE in 1.12 (net) cubes, it sounds awesome

double check your xover setting?

I need to check my crossover because I'm getting feedback through the sub durring parts of the song that I shouldn't. I'm thinking that I need to go to a properly tuned ported box. I mean, it's only gonna set me back about $35 for the wood and liquid nails. There's a diagram in the box plans thread that I like but need to change the overall measurements. When I do this, it's gonna change the port volume and I don't know how to calculate port frequency. My question is, if I build the box to have the same volume and the ports to have the same volume as the one I'm looking at( regardless of length, width and hight) will the frequency still be the same? If anyone has a formula for this I would greatly appreciate it.

I got onto RE's website and plugged some numbers into their box calculator. I built a box that fit right into my trailblazer. According to RE's website, it's 2.3 cuft@33.6Hz. WOW!!!!! It sounds amazing. My brother has a kicker 300.1 (which isn't enough power) that we hooked it up to and I was amazed at the difference in sound. Now I'm just waiting on my amp to get here and I'll be in business. Thanks for your help guys. BTW, this is a great site. It may cause my divorce!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a few pics of the box before carpet. Please excuse the mess as I hadn't had time to clean it up yet.

Forget it. I tried. I have no idea what's going on the past few days but I can hardly even get onto this website anymore. I'll try again another day.
