RD vs Sundown?

I figured i'd get everyones opinion on this. At the moment, I have 2 12in alphas in a 4 cu ft ported box tuned at 36hz. I have an oppourtunity to trade for a 15" Nightshade with Dual 1ohm coils. Ill build a custom box for the nightshade, itll be around 4.3 cu ft after disp and will be tuned to 37. The final ohm load on the alphas is 1ohm, the final load for the nightshade will be .5 ohm so the ns will see more power. Which do yall think will be louder both to the ear and on the tl? Thanks in advance for all opinions.

I heard nothing but good reports for Sundown audio.. they seem to be a favorite from what i see.. and the only thing ive heard about RD audio is that Steve Miller is an idiot pretty much lol

can i haz some popcorn? I would like honest opinions based on performance of each setup not some biased bs.
I hear ya man....but you know what these threads turn into....i have heard both and love both...only way i see the NS having more output would be from more power @ .5.....the 2 12's have more displacement.....either way i say you need more power

I bet they'd be similar. Cone area would give an advantage to the 12s. If you don't mind building a box, it might be worth trying the 15 just so you can say you've tried them both...
that and i think the nightshade can handle 3000watts better than 2 alphas

I love IA....and RD has good stuff...just shity owner
lol ive been asking him for a remote for like 4 months now and still dont have it :/ and im

But i agree with the product It’s definitely the loudest 12s ive ever had.

BTW twisted, hows the 18s in the stang? Im still waitin for some vids lol

he isn't asking for a company comparison, i don't know why people keep bringing up CS in a thread where people are comparing performance. we all know Sundown has amazing CS and RD CS is, well, non existent. So PERFORMANCE wise, which would be better?

I got a couple Alpha Max's coming in until my other subs get here

3000 watts? I thought you were using the 1750 in your sig... What amp are you considering running @ 1/2 ohm?
I am im just talking about when i do upgrade amps which i will eventually lol.

Thanks solox thats what im trying to ask lol

Ok, what 18s r u goin with?

Technically the two RD Alpha 12's don't out-displace the single Nightshade 15. See this quick comparison below:

Two RD Audio Alpha 12 D1’s (assuming he has two D1's since his final impedance is 1 Ohm):

Per Alpha 12;

Sd: 490 cm^2 (giving it credit because RD doesn’t list Sd)

BL^2/Re: 263 (assuming that RD's Re is correct with 1.3 Ohm with the coils wired in series)

Xmax: 16mm

Displacement for one Alpha 12: 784 cm^3 for one, so 1568 cm^3 for two.

One Sundown Audio Nightshade 15 D1:

Sd: 810 cm^2

BL^2/Re: 173

Xmax: 23 mm

Displacement for one NS15: 1863 cm^3
