RD 1750.1 dual\linking

I'm looking for experience and opinions on using two amps strapped together and running them at 1 ohm.

According to RD Audio, they shouldn't be used below 2 ohm while linked.

I called RD Audio, and the guy I spoke with said yea, it's not recommended to go below 2 ohms while linked.

Which I think is weird, being that the amps are .5 stable.

I have good electrical (270amp DC alt, 6 Shuriken BT20 batteries in back, and an optima yellow under the hood, and a dick load of 1/0)

So what do you guys think about running them at 1? Anyone got any experience running these, or a similar amp that the manufacturer made a similar statement?

I finally sat down today and searched harder on the web to find the answer myself...

I have found the following information, and decided instead of abandoning this thread, I will post my findings, and maybe it'll help someone else in the future.

I have come to the conclusion that by running strapped amps, you are basically cutting the ohm impedance in half to each amp.

By running strapped amps on a 1 ohm load, you are running each amp at .5 ohms.

If you would be giving the amps a 2 ohm, like recommended, each amp would see a 1 ohm load to each amp.

RD and similar quality amps should be able to handle the half ohm load, but will not warranty them.

With good electrical, each amp should be able to hold a .5 ohm load.

Research your amp to find out if it's .5 ohm stable, if it is, you shouldn't have a problem as long as you have the juice to power them properly.
