RCA's have continuity with power?

I've had a system in my truck for a little over a month and it's been working fine. Then last night I started to lose my front driver side speakers. They would go on and off, and the volume of the system would spike and drop. I assumed at first the amp was going bad and today I smelled burning from it. I went to a back-up amp but even with a different amp installed I am having the same problems. The issues are: excessive alternator whine, loud thumping through subs when attaching front or rear speaker RCA's, and now continuity with power to RCA's. I've never even considered this but while checking connection and what not found this was happening. This isn't normal is it? If not what would cause it?

sounds like ur rca output on deck went bad
After throwing in the second amp, that was what I was leaning towards. I wanted some extra opinions before I started tearing things apart. The Nav unit is barely a month old though. Good thing I have a warranty.

I took the Head Unit back to Sonic Electronics where I bought it (They are local to me) and they bench tested it and did find internal fault in the unit. So the unit lasted just under 1 month before it broke. lol. Fortunately I got an entire new unit, instead of it being repaired. Hopefully this one will last longer.
