rca problem

I had a problem with one of my amps that one of the rca channels gave out. I got a new amp and now here A constant static sound and also a higher pitched sound when my engine revs. I replaced the rca's and it didnt help. Before i replaced the amp i heard the same noises but they were never this bad. Could the old amp that one of the old rca's gave out messed something up, and is there anything i can do to fix it?

So you've changed amps, changed the RCAs and it still does it?

Sounds like the head unit then.

You might try regrounding the HU as a first step.

Yea, i read about that but what exactly do i do to ground the headunit.

you take the ground wire from the HU. and you gound it to a bare metal that is Not in your dash. ground it in the kick panel. or where the amp is grounded.

use the black ground wire on the hu wiring harness and connect it to the chasis, sand the metal down so it gets a good connection

the same size as the wire on your radio is fine.

I just tried grounding the headunit and it did not help. Any other ideas? I don't know if it means anything but i only hear the sound when the car is on and in drive. I don't hear it when its on and in park.

are your rca's crossing the power wire?

Yes, the rcas do cross the power wire. Would that be a problem?
