RCA picking up noise

I am using a 4-channel Crutchfield RCA bundle to run signal from my Kenwood DDX head unit to my 4-channel amp, but the RCA are picking up noise from behind the head unit.

The noise is a slight hum/hiss that does NOT change with engine speed or volume adjustment on the head unit. The noise goes away if I pull my head unit far enough out.

This makes me think the noise is being introduced along the RCA from a factory power wire, possibly the air conditioner, defroster switch, cigarette lighter, etc.

I think the Crutchfield brand is pretty high quality compared to everything else I've seen. Could they not be shielded enough?

Even if they are perfectly shielded, I feel like the noise is getting in through the connection to the head unit where the RCA metal is exposed somewhat.

At this point, I'm considering buying some EMI shielding copper tape to cover the accessory power wires behind the head unit, and grounding the tape to try to keep the interference from happening. Any input on any of this?
