Illusion Audio IM6 6.5 Mids

These so far are the nicest sounding and overall impressive 6.5 mids I've ever used. I'm ONLY selling these because my new amp setups needs a lower imp midbass driver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Part of me wants to package these up and keep them for a rainy day since these are discontinued and on the rare and endangered speakers list....so please buy them before I change my mind and keep them.

Item(s) Description/Condition:

Very nice SQ drivers from the IM6.1 component set. Rated 100w rms a piece, inverted magnet with a shallow 2.1 inch mounting depth. Very efficient as the coils cool much easier with this design. Before getting these I was skeptical a shallow mount speaker would sound as great as a quality regular speaker. I was wrong.

I've ran these from 80hz to 600hz as dedicated midbass in sealed pods and they impressed me everyday. They're rated up to 3khz so if you're doing a 2 way setup you're golden. If you search reviews on these kinds of speakers you'll see they were not cheaply made, or cheaply priced.

Speakers are used but in good condition and never abused. I took extra special care with these since they're my only front speaker not under warranty lol..... Every few weeks I'd take a baby wipe and give the cones and grills a good touch up. I'll be taking them out of my car tomorrow and taking some pics.

On the back of the speakers there are supposed to be binding posts (terminals) to attach the incoming speaker wire to. The previous owner removed those posts for whatever reason and soldered wire directly to the leads coming off the speaker. You can see where that solder joint is taped. The actual solder joints are about an inch away from where the wires enter the bas eof the spider. The wires are zip tied in place and everything functions as normal. Think of it as instead of having wire terminals, it's pretty much a direct lead in like DD does on thier subs. This minor adjustment has no effect on functionality. These speakers play like a dream.

Check the last two pics, the coils are immaculate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Would these have an issue going lower that 80? Also what sized pod did you use? I dont think my door has the room for something sealed, so would these have any issues IB in a door?

im sure these will play lower than 80, so long as the higher end of the playable range isnt too high. start with the lpf crossed around like 200hz and tune/tweak it from there. these shouldnt have any issues at all IB in doors. it's what they're primarily made for, they just happened to kick *** in pods too.
