approximately US $568.03, no thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
Gotta pay to play. It's better then paying the $999 retail price. I have a set of tweeters cost half of that price with no mid driver or crossover

Yeah, but aren't they $999 retail?

Any one of the three component sets listed as a poll option in this thread is going to be at LEAST $400, if not $500-$600 a set on Ebay, or the forums, etc.

I guess if you got the $$, and you want a ridiculously bada$$ front stage, you buy whatever you want. I know I don't have $600 to spend on a set of comps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

LOL! Yep, I know what you mean, man. I'd just love to be able to find a place local to me where I could audition the Hertz line.

I love my CMX Kicks, but after reading that review that Rich B posted, I'd be dry-humping the soundboard that the Hertz were mounted in if I got a chance to her them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

looks like i'll have to make the trip to Audio Innovations on my way back from Mammoth Lakes. Better equip the lotion, chafing is a bish

Back to the OP's subject for a minute......

I've owned a set of Rainbow Profi Vanadium phase plugs with the CAL26 titan tweeters. I ran them active 2-way, giving each mid and tweet approx. 120w each.

I was really impressed with the detail and clarity of this set, but in the end, I ended up selling everything and going with a set of CMX Kicks, which are now being run active, also(same amp, same wattage).

I appreciated the detail/clarity of the Profi Van phase plugs, but in the end, I'm happier with the SQL of the CMX Kicks. They just seem to be able to get louder to me than the phase plugs did, and still sound good doing it.

So, I'd say pass on the phase plugs if you want REALLY loud and just an amazing front stage presence. I haven't heard the SPZ's or the MK's, but it appears that reviews would lean me towards one of those two sets if I was looking for what you're looking for out of a 2 way component set.

LOL Where's Audio Innovations at? I'm down in the Irvine/Anaheim area, so I wouldn't mind driving an hour or so to audition them, but much more than that, and I'd probably have to pass.

u know where Mammoth Lakes is at? Ya, around there. It's in Fresno //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Too bad Advanced doesn't carry Hertz, someone hit up Tuan and tell him to contact them lol

Ohh, yeah, that's a little too far up the coast for me just for an audition.

That would be awesome if Advanced Car Creations(Tuan) could get Hertz in......I'm just not sure how many sets he could sell realistically. I know he's got Focal K2P sets and other Focal components, but I'm not sure if he'd be able to sell Hertz stuff for the common price point.

redcalimp so you had the profi vanadium phase plugs? They are very detail but not enought loud? How do you compare it and what you have now the cmx?
Yeah, in terms of having 'better/more expensive equipment', I guess one could say that I downgraded from the Vanadium phase plugs to the CMX Kicks, but I still like the CMX Kicks better for what I'm wanting my system to sound like.

The CAL26 titan is a very detailed and crisp sounding tweeter, but in my opinion, it simply doesn't match the raw sound output when compared to the CAL25 titan in the CMX Kick set. I listen to mostly metal, rock, and a little techno/industrial here and there, and the CAL25 titan tweet just flat out seems to have more 'presence' and the ability to get loud to me than the CAL26 titan does.

When I was running the Vanadium phase plug mids, they could definitely handle the power, but they seemed to strain a little on various tracks I played with rock and metal. Powered with the same wattage, by the exact same amp, the CMX Kick mids have no problem with handing more agressive output duties like the phase plugs seemed to.

Again, the phase plug set is a fantastic set, and it's definitely well-built. But I was willing to sacrifice some detail in my music that I was getting with the phase plug set for the pure SPL output ability of the CMX Kick set. The CMX Kick set doesn't reproduce quite the level of detail that the phase plug set can, but the detail they're capable of is good enough for me.

Here's my HSK 165 Comps

Look at the hertz HT 25 Tweeters compared to the CAL27, it's alot smaller
