Up for sale here is a barely used set of Rainbow mid-level components. This is a standard 2-way system with the following components:
One 6.5" Midbass/Woofer with:- Extremely flexible copper lead wires.
- Butyl rubber surround for controlled cone motion.
- Coated natural fiber cone for authentic sound
reproduction.
- Innovative dust cap form of reinforced natural fiber
for optimal frequency response.
- Powerful ferror-ceramics magnet.
- Linear Nomex spider.
- High temperature, vented 25 mm Kapton voice coil former
for minimal current loss
One 20MM Tweeter that has a very interesting mount allowing it to be rotated a bit like an eyeball:
- Tweeter dome of natural fiber silk mixture.
- Neoprene surround for controlled motions.
- Vented voice coil former with stainless steel lead
wires.
- Powerful neodymium magnet.
- Ferrofluid voice coil cooling.
- Extremely small installation diameter of 36 mm.
- Flush mount and angle mount included (this is really
versatile!)
and, a pretty nice little passive crossover:- Premium quality parts, including air coils and MKT
capacitors
- Chromium plated connections
- Variable tweeter attenuation level with reversible
thermal protection
Most importantly, they really sound very nice - especially for the price! The crossover is set up at 4,200 hz and it makes a nice transition to the amazingly powerful for its size tweeter. They are rated at 150 max power and seemed like they were pretty stable at relatively high volume the couple times I turned them up to get a feel for them.
I picked these up about 4 months ago thinking I would use my rear stage for surround a bit more than I actually do. These speakers are in perfect condition and were very slightly used. I have the original boxes and probably all the packing material as well. There is a very little spot on one of the grills where the paint is missing - it must have rubged against something in storagem since they were never used.
