Ok I just installed a radio in my car. I used the wiring harness I bought from walmart and connected all the wires to the correct color. I noticed that my controls on my steering wheel do not work any longer and also when I turn on my lights the radio goes out and just show the back site view and will not show the radio or anything else. What do I need to do? The radio comes on just fine when I turn off my head lights.

I have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifia

my radio is a (pyle) legacy LD59MU 2009 IN DASH 5.5 CAR TV MONITOR DVD PLAYER RADIO SD/USB

thanks

tia

Firstly, it's called a "pyle" for a reason. Not to put you down, but you spent a good penny on your vehicle and you're completely cheaping out with a HU, it doesn't make sense. Expect problems/complete failure from it within a year.

Many aftermarket HUs are not compatible with steering wheel controls and the ones that are often require a separate module connected as well to interface with those controls. Walmart likely won't carry it as it's typically specific to the brand. In other words, you'll need to find something that Pyle males for that purpose. By "back site view", I'm guessing you're referring to a back-up camera? If so, I'm guessing the wire on the unit that triggers that back up camera is hooked up to the wrong wire(may even need a separate module for that also, not sure) as it's clearly being triggered by head lights, rather than your gear selector.

Oh ok I seriously don't know anything about car radio or stereo ask I guess you can see. Could you suggest a brand that will have the steering wheel controls? Yes i am referring to the back up camera which what it says is back site when it turns off. When I started trying to find a stereo I was looking for something that I could hook my iphone to since the one that came with the car did not have. Then after looking I saw this one that had a dvd player and yes it was at a cheap price which I am always about saving money. However I would like something that works all the controls. So do you have any suggestions?

doing up the steering wheel controls is a PITA sometimes, you can do some research but I would suggest the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD from Pioneer, its 350 and will do all that you want and even more. They also make a 3200 but the usb port is in the front and I think its counter intuitive. Check amazon. Also look for the steering wheel control adapters that come with this for a simple google search, I have never personally reconnected steeringwheel controls because I purposely opt out of them. From what I have heard it can be a real pain in the butt. If you do some searching you will likely find your answer better than if you were to post around the forums asking for help. Im not trying to be mean but that is what I would do and certainly wouldnt have too much trouble doing it and then reporting back to you. just take your time and do your homework, thats how we all got to be where we are currently in the audio world. If you grab that pioneer its compatible with the steeringwheel and 1000X nicer than the POS you made the mistak of buying originally. Put the other one on craigslist and sell it to some dumb piece of ghetto trash. As for the back up camera I am sure you can do some googling around and find what other Pacifica owners have done. You are not the first one to replace the radio I promise.
