Radar detectors

i used to have one of those V1. i have to ask, how could you buy something with out the arrows. i loved the arrows. it took a little while to fully understand how to use the arrows, as far as were the cop is with bends in the road but the owners manuel explains it well. and the option to upgrade is awesome too. a great radar detector is an awesome investment. the one time i was pulled over, the radar was off and i was going 70 in a 50

forget arrows, once i hear that unit sound, im slowing down ASAP regardless (unless i know thiers a grocery store comming up that i know of)

i recently purchased the escort pasport 8500 as well in blue, when i need it most, their are no pigs around hiding with radars. but i guess thats a good sign? so far, no dislikes about it. i also like how it can read voltage so i can measure if im getting enough volts or not enough. but i dont think its that accurate? cause sometimes it may just pause on 12.9v

IF you guys are looking for the ZR3 I have one for sale.

330 shipped. Its brand new not even opened. Its a great little laser jammer. Very easy to install. also the cops are moving to laser system more accurate etc. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I thought lazers were sporadic and their manuals advised that their readings not be used in court because of their sporadic nature. Ive heard the Valentine is the best though, when I go to the GP in Indy all the nice cars that are their either have Valentines or no radar detector in them.

The only real advantage to the Valentine 1 is that it has far superior X-band detection than the Escort 8500 (or 8500 X50) or the other top dog, the Beltronics Pro RX65. And if you're into them, it has the threat direction indicator arrows. Personally, once I know there is a cop somewhere in the vicinity running radar I don't care where he might be in relation to where I am. I'm perfectly satisfied knowing he is there at all. Once I know there's an active threat close enough to set off my detector I'm gonna slow down...regardless of what direction from me the cop might be.

Excepting the myriad of smaller communities across our great land that don't have alot of budget allocated to law enforcement and are still using X-band speed detection, the only thing that really emits X-band RF is automatic door openers on businesses and motion detectors incorporated into various alarm systems. Having said that, extraordinary X-band sensitivity isn't something that particularly impresses me. That coupled with an extra C-note in the price tag over its closest competition immediately knocks the Valentine out of consideration for me. I assure you ~ those silly arrows aren't worth an extra $100!

For a really solid dashboard or windshield-mount detector look to the Escort 8500 X50 or the Bel Pro RX65 (which, interestingly enough, are built by the same people following the buyout of Beltronics by Cincinnati Microwave a couple years ago) They've got the same internals, both are software upgradeable if newer detector technology comes out and performance-wise, they both p3wm the Valentine. For every review you can find that gives top honors to the V1 I can show you two or three that give it to the 8500 X50 or the RX65.

I have the RX65 and it's worth every cent that I paid for it. I've never used the 8500 X50 but those that I know who have express similar feelings about it.

Valentine. Bah!

X band detection doesnt tickle my pickle I could care less about that. Thats why I have my X band turned off on my X50. I have never picked up an X Band that was from a radar. Thats traveling in three states, two states regularly (300 mile trip) I have been hit with the laser 3 times

Ive got a V1 and it works quite well.

In Australia the cops are using hand held laser guns now and have just about rendered detectors useless from that point of view. But the highway patrol cars still have the roaming radar setup and can still be found...lol

It also picks up any speed camera car that is set up discreetly on a street/road to catch the unwary...

In Victoria in particular if you are nabbed at 4kmh and above the limit you are slapped with a hefty fine!!!

Hence the V1, and gotta agree me loves the arrows!
