well i was up until 2am last night posting on here (yes, im a loser), i was tired as ****, couldnt sleep, and irritated. i didnt even realize until right now that he thought that website was stupid, while everyone of my posts was based off thinking he was trying to defend the website and its ideas. i dont even know why i took offense to some of noobieaudios comments, but i've laid my bed so now i will try to save my ***.

Without said publicity and tax advantages, they wouldn't donate at all. Andrew Carnegie wrote extensively on this around the time of the creation of the income tax. When Congress experimented with removing the tax advantage for donations, they withered greatly.
So, George, which do your perfer donations, or none.

Its not that i dont think the donations are good, i just misread noobieaudios quote and it sounded like he was just gloating over american idol when i hate these people. so i said, if you're going to gloat over someone at least make it someone worthwhile

Correct, actually, if we gave more ****, we wouldn't donate at all. Our donations actually ruin the infrastructure of much of Africa. Wal-Mart could not compete there....why? Because of our excess spending winds up in boxes of clothes over there for free. There is no domestic economy because things that are required currently do not exist because they are given to them via donations. There is no ability for these people to set up shops...they simply cannot compete with a box of goods arriving from the salvation army.

I am sure you are not familair with the plight of the farming class before the Great Depression. They did not have any of the ammenities you speak of and did not resort to robbing/killing/stealing/selling dope. My grandmother told me of stories where they did not get to eat every day because there was no food. Even if you were wealthy in her community, there was no food. But they didn't go around like a bunch of barbarians trying to feed themselves. The house my father grew up in did not have running water.

I may be an ignorant SOB, as you say...but justifing crimes against society because of your own economic sitation is about as bad as the justification of slavery itself. Would you justify **** if you were ugly, surrounded by rapists, and could get any? There is no time in which robbery and murder are justified...I can't believe you are advocating murder. Would you set a man free if his excuse for robbing and killing your mother was because he was poor?

flip, i never advocated murder. i was saying that i dont blame someone for robbing/stealing/selling drugs if they're trying to survive when they've had nothing since the day they came out of their cracked out moms womb. then they are surrounded by nothing but killings, drugs, gang violence, and it all gets burned into their brain by the time they're 12 if not younger. its a cycle. the original intent of even using this argument was based on me getting a little pissed because i thought noobieaudio was saying thats its the blacks fault when in actuality he was only stating a fact about how violence shifted and not actually trying to put blame on them

The larger issue is people are actually able to see the income inequality and think that robbing and stealing are justifications for making things "more equal"...

such a silly, pointless thread. The reason america has been able to (and has) "done so much" for people of color is because the wealth of the nation was built on their backs. Without essentially free labor to cultivate the colonies, America would not have been able to amass the great wealth the country built. Not only that, but since people did not have to work the land (since their slaves did it) or other menial jobs, they had time to create and invent many things that led to the industrial revolution and early 20th century technology. Socrates and Plato talked about this: a society needs a class of laborers so that the other class can have time to think and cultivate ideas. Because of slavery, whites in this country were able to do that.

Black on black crime is the reason blacks were sold into slavery in the first place (wikipedia african slave trade, its been happening for a 1000 years and the Americas were the last on board with it). Slave trade was so lucrative to African nations that were selling slaves that they abandoned agriculture in pursuit of capturing and selling rival tribes and nations. That devastated Africa because agricultural growth was stunted for hundreds of years. That opened up Africa to imperialism which is still destroying the Continent to this day.

So if we're gonna talk about this kind of topic, lets look at the beginning and all facets and not just slavery in America.

Oh and NO SLAVERY WAS NOT GOOD FOR BLACK PEOPLE. And to add to that aN EVEN WORSE SLAVERY OF THE MIND IS OCCURRING IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY AND EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD BE AFRAID OF THIS PHENOMENON

I have been in the same boat and I did not chose robbing and stealing. I did chose to borrow a lot of money in hopes my education would set me free.

Explain the rapid industrialization of the Northeast around the turn of the century? Explain of rapid innovation in the divison of labor in our factories....the value is created by the division of wealth. Henry Ford's ideas of division of labor by the moving assembly line (not the assembly line in which he is often given credit for, developed by Oldsmobile 20 years prior) was not based on the slave trade...Silicon Valley was not based on the slave trade. The moving assembly line which revolutioned and propogated the industrial revolution is based off how they slaughter animals in the Chicago Stock Yards...and had little to do with the effeciencies (or lack thereof) of the plantation system. I would argue that slave labor actually set us back as the incentive to innovate mechanically is limited because of the artifical low price of labor. Had labor been correctly priced, producers would be forced to innovate with greater vigor.

To say that wealth in America today is based on the slave trade of suspect at least. How do you explain the wealth provided in industries not connected to slavery? Furthermore, in countries where people work as near-slaves, wouldn't they experience even greater capital abundance than in the United States? Economically, slavery is good for none of the agents. It is a temporary crutch for those not creative enough to compete.
