Dont get me wrong, I totally respect and admire him. It took sooo much courage to do what he did, especially at that time. I just completly disagree with the fact that I dont have school/work today but have to work on presidents day...

The White Man (read English Settlers) were selfish and VERY self-involved... killed off many different tribes and has continued to slowly destroy their cultures. How can they be a proud people when we continue to not accept their ways?

Same with African (Black) people... they are still suppressed...they act as they are treated... we claim to be a diverse culture and still racism is going strong... shamefull really...

We, as a race, dont accept diversity any more now than we did 100 years ago...

This thread reminds me of a contraversy going on here in Louisville, there is a street that was named 25th or something, and they wanted to rename it MLK street.....the white population that lives on that street went bonkers and wanted the blood of the county commissioner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif They figured that it would lower their property values, too bad the place was already filled with white trash as it was.

That is just a purely false statement... The biggest importer of black slaves was the middle east and persian empire. The arabs and persians throughout history have preyed and continue to prey off of African resources. Heck the Egyptian empire was built off of the nubian tribes of the serengeti.

The Romans would take slaves of whomever the counquered as did the arabic moors throughout Northern Africa. To say that English or White people are the cause of slavery or racism is just false.

The reason why Americans focus on this is because we are self hating culture. You can waive all that Indian and black slavery talk but it's no different than the standards for the times. E.g. look at what the Hispanic nations did to the Central and South American Indian tribes (Incas, Mayans, Aztecs). Will you also agree that Hispanics are ignorant people as well. Heck their politicians still publicly mock American blacks.

What about the Asian countries? The Japanese and Chinese are some of the most racist culters historically yet no mention of them. I'm not denying that what happend in America wasn't a bad thing. But it's time to move on and stop perpetuating this term of racism. Until then we won't put an end to this idea.
