I have a question which may or may not be a valid concept. Could I use say an old set of small 4 ohm speakers (could even be blown) as a “dummy†voice coil in my sub wiring configuration or does it have to be the same exact voice coils to lower or raise the impedence level. I would like to run a set of dual 2 ohm subs (which of course will yield a 2 ohm mono load) but I would like for my amp to see them as a 4 ohm load due to wattage reasons. I don’t want to overpower the subs. It may sound stupid but I can’t recall reading about this concept anywhere. Could be useful if it could and would work.
Thanks for any and all opinions.
