ok im going to be building this enclosure for two 12" alpine type Rs.

these are the enclosure specs.

3.437cuft @ 27.17hurts wtih 4- 4" ports @ 50.20" length

the frequency responce seems very good, sub wont bottom out. and there wont be any port noise.

the subs are goin to be sitting on the very rear part of the trunk " back of the car" and facing to the back of the trunk at an angle, its going to be installed in a falce floor.

now the ports are going to be external, but because of the falce floor you wont see the ports, but you willsee the opening, now the port is going to be very close to the back of the rear seat.

now for the question.

will it make an audible diffrence to have the ports 55.20" away from the enclosure? and to the back of the rear seats "with the proper distance"

the subs will be kind of fireing in to the rear of the car at an angle.

pl i need info from the pros. or some one that have sone this before.

PS: if you need more info or a drawing let me know and ill make one.

not quite sure what you by having the port 55.2" "away" from the box. if you make them 55.2" long then you tuning freq. will be lowered. your at 27Hz the way it is...i wouldn't go much lower....try to keep them the same length....unless i'm missing you Q.

why don't you just do a wide slot port outside of the box and have the top of it be the false floor...could save you some work.

well it will be an external port. lol none of it will be inside the enclosure.

slotport or roun port its not realy the issue.

what i need to know is . will having the port end 55" away from the enclosure make any diffrence on how the setup will sound?

thanks

I don't know about sound, but IMO it will definately look like ***.

WOW. did you read the firs part of the post, the ports are going to be in a falce floor so you wont see them. haha.

now again, i need to know if it affect sound!!!!!

if you wont see the ports, that means that they will be convered.......skimming through it, it looks like they are firing into the cabin?
well i still want to keep them in the trunk but firing out the sides of the amp wich is goin to be by the back of the back seat on the floor.

nothing is going to be fire in to the cabin .

the only thing that i was planing on doing to the rear deck is remove the 6" factory sub that is freeair. and opening a second hole on the other side about 6" as well to let some of the low end bass escape into the cab of the car. and there is an arm rest in the middle of the back seat with a metal backing to it i could cut that pease of metal and cover it with grill cloth as well to allow more air to flow in to the cab of the car.

what do you think?

i think if you have 50 inches of clearance, and enough room for a box, that you have a huge trunk. I have never run ports outside of the box, so i really cant help you on this one.

*sits back and learns*

yeah thats one of the reasons im doing it that way, i mean the seats do fold forward but who wants to drive like that right, so im a try to get the most opened area on that rear deck as posible without sacrificing the vehicle strengt integrity in that area.

lol wouldnt want the back window to just buts under preasure, i may cut a big area and talk to one of my local friends to see if he can weld some re-enforcement to even out for what i cut out. lol

if you cut out the single layer in the back, thats not an issue.

if you cut out the brace that is at least 2, and up to 4 layers think in some places, thats when you need to reinforce.
