Quick Tinsel Lead Fix Question

lol...my mt broke a lead, so i re-soldered it...broke with-in minutes..fixed it again, same deal..

my team-mate saw an ebay auction where a guy used a butt connector to fix his..we only wanted to repair the sub so we could destroy it to re-cone to another impedance...

installed the butt-connector really really tight and it didnt break for the 10-15min we tortured it....just be sure that you get a really good crimp on it..id suggest cutting the excess plastic off the butt connector to make it a bit easier..

sounds stupid, but it did work..

If there isn't enough to solder to how is he supposed to use a butt connector?

because getting the tips of some pinchnose pliers in the limited space you have in the cone/spider joint is much easier than getting a soldering iron and something to keep the pieces of lead together...

we had like 3/8" of the tinsel lead coming from under the dust cap and we managed...i also added that cutting the excess pastic from the butt connector makes it easier...

On one of mine that did that i ripped of the dust cap and ran a wire in through the whole where the lead came out and attached it under the dust cap it worked but good luck reattaching the cap.

Pun

i have like 3/8 of a milimeter of a tinsel lead....i think its done because even when i put a dmm on the good tinsel and the tiny speck of metal on the other lead i get nuthing so i think shes done
