quick rca question

i had a pioneer premier 850 and it got stolen, they unhookd the harness and all but decided to cut the rcas...

so i decided im gonna put in a new head unit, so would i have to buy new rcas and run it through.. or is there some cheap fix for the rca problem???

You could solder a male or female plug on the end of the RCA's, and then run a patch to the head unit.

could i strip the rca and cut another set of rcas and connect them?

not directly...you'd have to put connectors on the cut end.

wow never thought it could work that way... i thought i would have to strip the wires and solder another piece of rca wires to it... but what do i know

generally, you never want to directly splice two signal-carrying wires together...unless it's just straight AC or DC power. The same principle applies to RF coaxial cables as well - if there's any change in the conductors, it bumps your impedances all to hell.

That's how you do it... I like that "oh, i've been looking for something like that wiring harness over there..."

Chances are they don't give a rats a$$ about a pair of cables..he11 some places give out speakers so I know you can probably squeeze out some RCAs.
