quick question

Is the problem supposed to be x= (2y-1)/(3y+3)? If not, ignore the following...

If so:

1) multiply both sides by (3y+3) --> 3xy+3x=2y-1

2) subtract 2y from both sides --> 3xy-2y+3x=-1

3) subtract 3x from both sides --> 3xy-2y=-3x-1

4) factor out y --> y(3x-2)=-3x-1

5) divide both sides by (3x-2) --> y=(-3x-1)/(3x-2)

See last post on first page

x = 2y - 1/3y + 3

x = (5 / 3)y + 3

x + 3 = (5 / 3)y

(x + 3) / (5 / 3) = y

(3(x + 3)) / 5 = y

(3x + 9) / 2 = y

IF you go by how it was written...i.e. OofO

x = 2y - 1/3y + 3x = (5 / 3)y + 3

x + 3 = (5 / 3)y

(x + 3) / (5 / 3) = y

(3(x + 3)) / 5 = y

(3x + 9) / 2 = y

doesnt +3 become -3 when u take it over to the other side of the = ????
