Quick question on sub placement.......

I am building a box for my rl-p15 for my 1993 Nissan 240sx fastback. Due to height restrictions the sub and port will be upfiring. My question is, does it matter where the sub is placed in relationship to the port? I was planning on just mounting the subwoofer dead center, but I see most boxes that members on here build seem to have the sub to one side or another...is there a reason for this?

Because truth be told I would prefer the sub to be in the center. But if there is anything to be gained, I have no problem changing plans. Thanks.

The main reason, in my experience, for putting the sub to one side or another is so you still have some trunk left. There's not a lot of sound difference between left, right, or middle, especially with an upfiring sub.

My wife had a '90 240SX fastback up until a couple years ago. That car was fantastic. Didn't do much sound-wise except the basic swap the four speakers for better ones and add a cd player.

sqhertz, no pics of my actual car, but to be honest it is nothing special....no mods or anything like that. Just a cleaner-than-average 1993 Nissan 240sx fastback.

MarcRocks, was the car fantastic in the sound department, or just in general? This is actually my 2nd 240sx and I really have nothing but good to say about the car and 240sx's in general. Great little cars, especially for the price.
