Quick question on Rockford Fosgate amp

i have a component set that is rated 200watts rms.

i have a choice of 2 amps to power it. both are 4 channel amps. il only mention the 4 ohm rating since my speakers only go 4ohms

RF 600.4

75x4 4ohm

150x2 4ohm bridged

Orion 800.4

100x4 4ohm

400x2 4ohm

Question:

1. What are the negatives of running a 4 channel amp to bridged mode with the same resistance rating (4ohm). Will i notice increased noise? both 4 channel amps are rated to perform in 2 channel bridged mode so i'm assuming they can deliver the higher power rating without a noticeable drop in SQ.

thanks!

Bridging 4 channel amps is no problem as long as you don't try

to run them at less than rated impedance. THD can go up but it

should still be in the inaudible range, this is similar to not bridging

but dropping the channels to 2 ohms.

ok. the 200watts speakers powered by a 300watt (4ohm) bridged amp is most likely the plan. i have 100 watts of extra to play with so lowering the gain IMO will 'eliminte' any unwanted THDs.

thanks!
