hifonics brutus bxi 1606d or alpine mrd-m605? both same price. will be powering a single 400w rms kicker CVR sub or a torrent audio mistral leaning more towards SQ.
(i know CVR's aren't really for SQ but i hear they are decent for SQL which should be fine for me)
alpine all the way, for pure wattage and SQ. ive never heard the torrent, but i know you can still get **** good SQ from the kicker if it's housed correctly. contact kicker and ask what the optimal SEALED enclosure volume is for it (not the minimum you can get away with that they print)
for a box i have a ported 12" that i bought from a friend. its about 2.1 cubic feet. and i don't have any more money to spend on another enclosure. my box is within the ported box specs of the kicker sub anyway. also would that hifonics amp kill a stock battery/power setup? i heard it draws a lot of current.
alright i'm going with the kicker. any other opinions on the amps? alpine has a 400w RMS at 4 ohms and 600w RMS at 2 ohms. hifonics has a 550w RMS at 4 ohms, 1100w RMS at 2 ohms, and 1600w RMS at 1 ohm. gotta stick with a stock alt and batt at the moment. running a single kicker CVR DVC but might upgrade to 2 later on. depends on how the single sounds to me first.
good choice on the kicker...the rms on that is 400 so the 600 @ 2ohms the alpine pushes out will be more than enuff and it is a more efficient amp on the power draw. a ported box will give you a lil more bang but also compromise SQ and frequency response. so i still think u should go with a sealed box ..im betting somewhere around 1.5-1.8 cu ft will be right, check with kicker though...and dont let them just tell you what the manual says (something like 1.25), ask what the REAL optimal volume is for the flattest response curve....good luck homie!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
