Quick Question, Kicker Amp to 2 W6's

I am looking to buy a

Kicker ZX1000.1 rms- 1000X1@2ohms

and i have 2 JL W6 12's which are dual 2ohm (they take 450 a peice).

Will this be a good amp to power the subs fully, or do i need to be powering them at 1000X1@4ohms on a diffrent amp?

should power them nicely -- Wire them to 2 ohms.

Since when did JL make D2 W6s? All the W6v2 are D4. The originals were all D6. You have the options of 16 ohms which would not give you a lot of power, 1 ohm which the amp will not like and 4 ohms which will give the subs about 250ish each. They'll actually do better than most think off only 500rms ot the pair. They aren't loud subs anyway.

i meant 4 ohms, my bad, they are very clean subs and pretty **** loud, loud enough for my trunk

I chose these subs, i dont want to be deaf at age 20, so i went with W6's don't dis my subs, they are clean and way more than i could ever ask for, i don't care about makin ears bleed or whatever, i want clean undistorted bass that i get with JL, i just wanted a simple question answered, thanks for the extra knowledge though*

well if they're D4 ... then no, don't buy that amp.

Look elsewhere.

i have the same subs i got a 850.2 by kicker for them they each get about 440 wats each ishh birthc sheet says 919 watts other wise there would be no way to wire down to 2 ohms

You obviously don't know me if you think I'm dissin' the subs. I'm on of the few on here who doesn't whine about JL's pricing and think that they make a good product and that the price is reasonable. The W6s sound great.

You, however, are asking if the amp will "power them fully" which usually means that the person asking the question is after loud. JL is not the sub for loud. I'm glad that you understand that. Since you are NOT after loud, 1) you chose the right sub and 2) that amp will be more than enough power them to sound great and be plenty loud. Anyone who says that they need more power is a moron.

yea i ordered the kicker 1000.1 like a month ago, didnt think it was going to come in so i was thinkin about buyin a new one, but now im stuck with the kicker, but the install will be done tomrow, and the car audio installer said it was fine for them to be runninat 2 ohms

they couldnt run them at 2ohms, so they are only half powered right now, i need to get another kicker 1000.1, ugh what a waste of money

There is no such thing as "half powered" unless you only have one of the voicecoils wired. RMS power rating is a limit not a goal. Usually with JL subs it takes less than the RMS power to get them to full excursion in a sealed box anyway. Drive them beyond that and you won't toast the coils, but you will destroy the driver.

yea i gotcha helotaxi, i just watched them flex and was thinkin they cant really flex that much more. i probably wont get another amp, they hurt my ears already and i already knocked a intrior light out, im kinda mad about that actually

and yes iceteebone im 18 y/o, i blessed to have this car, my dad gave me a limit of 28k to buy a car, i wanted an 04 cobra but he said no more than 340 hp, and that what i have my roush at right now, about to tune it and get a uncatted x-pipe and some new gears, should put down 365 rwhp and should do 0-60 in about 5.0-4.8s depending on driver
