My friend had an alpine hu stolen so he's been driving around with his stock tape player because he has no cash to buy a new unit.. i have a stock stereo that plays cds which would be ideal for him... but im unsure how possible it is for other models stock epment to fit in a different car regarding the wiring

he's got a 95 mercury cougar and ive got a 01 mitsubishi galant if that helps.

sorry bout that on a few meds right now - heads up in the clouds

when i replace stock stereos for aftermarket stuff I always go the route of buying a wiring adapter to make things simple.. however you cant use an adapter to go from stock wires to a differrent car model stock stereo.. how difficult or do-able is it to wire his stock wiring into my stock radio.

yea you should see this car he doesnt even have money to splurge at walmart..

actually ny doesnt even have a walmart

Dont know what to tell you then.......If he cant drop $30, hes gotta find a new hobby, or hes gonna be in a long term bad mood.

He cant go cut the neighbors grass or something?

You can get a harness to fit the Cougar, and a reverse harness that fits the Mitsubishi radio...IF the Galant wasn't originally equipped with an Infinity system. If it was, you won't be able to use it with the Cougar.

Yeah, but unless they are the same size, it either wont fit or will be too loose.

Besides, by the time he spends the money on harnesses, he could have got a deck.

Look in the classifieds, someone probably has an old deck they are selling really cheap.

I don't see this being as difficult as implied, although i'm not very familiar with either car. But in theory, if you were to find the harness for both of the cars, write down the schematic that's listed on the back, it shouldn't be an issue to connect the wires as needed since you'll know what is what. But there's a fella who posted above me(KaeZoo) who sounds like he knows what he's talking about so I'd get in his ear if I were you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks bud... if i wasnt out of it i would've thought to ask about a reverse harness..

thanks again - also reverse harnesses are common i suppose?

No Walmarts in New York??? Thats a travesty.
everytime they try to open one the community/district always votes against it. people are anti-walmart around here for what they represent as a coroporation/empire. I hear theyve got mad low prices so I wouldnt mind one.

in any case where can I find a reverse wiring harness? Having difficulty finding one online.
