Quick question about sealing box.

Ive built many sealed boxes with Silicone to seal the insides and on my vented box, I decided to use Liquid Nails for a better seal.

It got a little messy but nothing to nasty. Question is, will tuning or sound be changed by the sealant?

Probably not. I would say if you were a huge SPL competitor and change sealant and added a brace or two you _might_ squeeze 1 dB or so if your box was already pretty good (ie, already braced).... but it's just good practice IMHO, thats all...

If you don't want to build one yourself:

With a sub that is so SQ oriented, I would almost opt for a sealed box over a ported even though the JL will soud great in both.... it could just sound SO good in a sealed box....

That said, a well designed ported box will sound good and be louder...

Lol...i have had the same problem on deciding on a box for my 2 JL12W7's.....but after lots of input....i decided to go with a sealed box.

Yes, true on that well designed ported box will sound good and get loud, but since i got a RF bd1500 to each sub, it will still get pleanty loud and have the "tight and deep" bass i'm looking for in my sealed box.

Nweibley...if you AOL IM...IM me, i would like to discuss this if you have time. SN: nln32700
