I JUST FINISHED THE FRAME AND WRAPPED IT WIT POLAR FLEECE, MY THING IS I HEAR U PROS TALK ABOUT LAYERING NOW CAN I USE THE FLEECE TO DO LAYERS OR IS THE FLEECE JUST THE BASE AND I HAVE TO PUT FIBERGLASS MATT OVER THE FLEECE? HOPE U GUYS UNDERSTAND WUT IM TRYIN TO EXPLAIN, ITS MY FIRST FIBERGLASS PROJECT SO IM NOT REALLY SURE HOW TO EXPLAIN . THANXX IN ADVANCE.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif

I'm just doing my first build as well so I am no pro, but, I did a lot of research before I started but I can tell you the best way is to strengthen it from the inside after you lay your fleece. Get yourself some resin filler, mix it with the resin and dump it into the box and spread it with a brush. You can get into all the nooks and crannies and all around the backside of the rings. It is easier to finish the box on the outside this way. Less sanding and prep work for painting if you decide to go that route. Good luck!

Fillers are fumed silica like Cabosil or Aerosil.

the way i reinforced my kicks on the inside was just to cut little strips of fiberglass mat and paint the inside of the box or whatever you are making with resin throw some mat on the resin, then poke the mat with more resin and let it dry.

i know that was a crappy way to explain it, but for real its not hard to do. cut out like 1" x 4" strips of the mat and lay them down on the inside of hte kick jsut as you would on the outside. as other people have said, much less work to do on the outside of hte kicks.

1 layer of fleece but dont fiber over tyhe fleece fiber under the fleece. sanding and bondoing is a ***** is you fiber over the fleece. unless your smoothing the inside too then just be careful how you lay the fiber over the fleece.

its not that bad, you just have to not use cheap *** bondo. I recently finished my fiberglass enclosure for 2 15's ,bondo ultimate made its so much easier, before that i used bondo classic on some kicks and it was the worst sanding experiience ever. One thing to make it real easy is go ahead and sand the bare fiberglass first(no to much sanding though), it will get smooth(and dont mind the holes, thats what the body filler is for), once you do that then go over it with bondo.

you can check out some pics of my progress here, its kind of random but maybe youlel see what im talkign about.

yeah seriously i dont think bondo is too horrible. sand once on the fiberglass with 40 or 60 grit, then sand once on the bondo (applied with a credit card or bondo spreader), then fill any pinholes with 3:1 bondo:acetone "whole milk" body filler. make sure you fill the holes up completely and then some, because it will sand off really easy and flush if you do it this way.

has worked for the six enclosures i've made with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
