Quick disconnect for amplifier hookups?

i'm putting a system in my wagon... it is meant to look good for shows but also be removable if i need to haul stuff.

nothing crazy or over the top - just two 12's in a sealed enclosure, the amp pushing them will be mounted at an angle on display above the box. there will be a beauty board in front of the box with a smooth vinyl-covered top, amp in middle. this won't beat a full-on custom setup but will beat the "box in the trunk" crowd.

anyway, my question: since the amp will be mounted on top of the box, is there a way to make a quick-disconnect for amplifier power, ground, input, and turn-on leads? like a harness or something i can just unplug when i need to pull the box out? has anyone ever seen any product like that or fabbed one up?

suggestions very much appreciated. if you have ideas on how else to display the amp while preserving cargo space & maintaining the easy removal for the box, i'm all ears. it's an audi wagon, no real room where the spare tire is and no room for the amp on either side of the trunk area.

amp is an orion xtr2150 (like 2 feet long), subs are XTR series 1s. yeah i know, but it's a legacy build, so cut me some slack. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif TIA for all your help!

those work good i had some connectors from the welding store that i used in my van. It was nice the seat was the amp rack and 4 4/0 connectors and some molex plugs for the speaker wires it unhooked fast. the box was a bit harder to take out i had to remove some peakers then unbolt it from the floor

Yes those are what they use for electric fork lift battery connections. They make them for 1/0 and bigger. The for sure will handle the power for your amps. The ones I use on my charger are rated to 300a and they are 2 gauge.

thanks for the link! that will work exactly for what i need.

where do you find the complementary end? it appears those are all female connectors? where are the males?

This may be a very stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway as I need to make sure that I do this correctly. After reading this thread I purchased 2 of these 4 AWG Breakaway Power Connector 175A. I have never had quick disconnects but I would like to incorporate this into my vehicle. Once I install these my question is do I need to remove the ground cable from the battery everytime I want to disconnect them from the box or reconnect them when I put the box back in the vehicle (it is a box with a built in amplifier) or can I just go to the trunk and pull these apart and hook them back up everytime without any other adjustments or issues. I greatly appreciate your insight.

I use them in all of my cars. It is a whole lot easier if you need to pull the subs for space. Never have pulled a ground. I only attach or pull apart with the system off. Not sure how it would effect the component if it is playing and the power/ground removed, probably not a good thing. These feed my distribution blocks, so more than amps are running off of the power/ground. By the way you can't hook them up backwards, they only go together one way.
