quick cancellation question

im beginning my third box for my diamond D6. the dimensions are 20x14x10 external, which is pretty close to 1.25. Diamond recomends the enclosure to be 1.25 cu ft with 2x 2.5"X16" ports. i plan on facing the woofer backwards and face the ports towards the drivers side. will this cause any cancellation issues? i know if i face them out the front ill be fine, but the port would literally have to be sticking out 10" and we dont want none of that.

It depends on the vehicle really. I'm running the same way in my hatch and it sounds fine and has really nice low end. The only loss of output I notice is from about 70-80hz but that could be from the large enclosure or just the really thick low end I'm getting.

itd be running in an alero. i mean i guess it would be fine, but i dont know if the bass passing from the sub (reflecting off my trunk deck into the cabin) if it would cancel out with the bass coming out of the ports?

There is just as much of a chance with that as there is with the port on the same plane as the sub. The cause of cancelation is due to the phase difference between them. When the wave leaves the port, it is rarely in phase with the wave leaving the cone.

Different vehicles will have different reflections so there is really no way to tell if you will have issues or not. The only way to know is to try.
