Quick amp question

I would like an amp that will fit under my seat in a 4runner. I have 2 infinity kappa perfect 10" subs in a box in the back and want to install the amp under the front seat.

Im looking for a best performance at a good price type deal - not looking for the best amp in the world. . ..

Thanks

The amp has to be less than about 2.5in thick to fit under the seat.

I am buying the speakers used. They are rated 75-350 watt RMS. I know the speakers are 4 Ohms but have read that if they are wired in parallel it will decrease the resistance to 2 Ohms.

If the speaker box is already built - how can I tell if its wired in parallel . . ..is it possible without taking the box apart?

Is there a good amp less than 2.5 in that would work either way?

Thanks for the suggestions

Take a DMM (digital multimeter) and set the reading to Ohms Resistance. Put the red and black leads from the multimeter in the speaker terminals (red for + and black for -) and see what it tells you.
As for an amp suggestion at the power level you are needing in the minimal space you are alotting for it that could prove to be a bit problematic.

All that room in the back of your SUV and the amp has to live under a seat?

Yeah, I could put it in the back with the box - I just thought if all other things being equal it would be convenient to put under the front seat.

Without the height restriction and not being sure how the two subs are wired. . . what amp do you recommend that would work either way? Or, what different amps do you recommend based on the different wiring?

Appreciate the help.

So the speakers could apparently be set up either in series or parallel.

Would a Rockford Fosgate Lightning Audio s1.1000D (600W at 4ohms and 1000w at 2ohms) be a decent amp. I know RF is considered overpriced for its quality, but I can get this used for a decent price.

If not, what would you recommend? Set the speakers up in parallel Im assuming. . .and then the amp?

Thanks

Its a custom box and the wires are available to be wired in either parallel or series. . . .

With that said - whats the best way to wire it and what amp would you recommend?

Thanks again

I can get a Rockford Fosgate S1.1000d 1000 Watt Mono Amp that has

*600 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms

*1000 Watts RMS @ 2 Ohms

For $100

Would this amp work and if so - how would you wire it?

If you wired the two speakers in parallel it would go down to 2 Ohms and 1000 Watts would be way over the 350RMS of the speaker. . . .and it seems it would be at risk for blowing the subs??

Thanks for the help
