question

When we say install we normally (well at least me) mean the box. The amp, wiring are all vital parts of an install. Here is what we mean. People have installed 6" midbass's that supposedly sound like 15's. The tuning,sq inch's of the port are all very important. Another ex:

My friend has a small JBL 10" sub running off like a 150w RMS amp in a bandpass. He wangs harder than my other frend who has a pair of 12s in a sealed box off a 500w RMS amp. Just a couple ex's that show you what we mean by the install

Hope this helps a little

Jon

Yes a box can be too big. If it is too big the subs acts like it is free air (someone correct me if I am wrong) and that is not good. What are you looking for, SPL SQL, SQ???? For SPL ported is 9.9 times out of 10 the right way to go. For SQL and SQ most of the "super drivers" sound extremely good in low tuned boxes like around 32Hz below. Normally a sealed enclosure is the best for overall SQ.

Hope this helps...

why does everyone say it depends on the installation like what do u mean the wiring or the amps or the box what do u mean
and 1 more question is it possible for a sub to have to much space
Install = all of the aforementioned, plus EQ'ing, sound deadening, etc.

And yes.
