Question with power wire connecting to amp

Well I have a new to me OS Infinity Kappa 102a. I had ordered some wire to hook this amp up and not even thinking I ordered 4 gauge wire for the power and ground connection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

I received the amp and noticed the inputs for power/ground are VERY small. I was then going through the manual and it says "you’ll need a minimum of 12-gauge stranded copper wire for the power connections."

Thankfully I am running this from a distro block which will be ~2 feet of wire but doesn't 12 gauge seem extremely low? I have some extra 12 gauge speaker wire but I just feel like that wire is way to skinny. So what should I do? Just go in between and go for 8 gauge? (Although 8 gauge might be to thick for the inputs.. Have to measure it)
