Question...(warning, may be retarded)

bramahs and xxx handle the same amount of power 1600, xxx's dont need a 1400 rms and cannt handle 2000(you would ruin the sub really quick like this), 700-1000 is enough to drive it to full excursion and deping on the box you have , just because its rated at 1600 rms dosent mean its a requirent thats a THERMAL rating, and brahmas can take a minimal of 600rmsfor its full potential if they got the biggest box.
and to answer youre question 2 12's at 1000 would defienently have more output than 1 15 with 2000rms theres a LOT more cone area, as a matter a fact you would ruin youre 15 with that much power over time.
Hence why I said keep the gains down (nothing wrong with a little head room).

Also you would be surprised in how much a 15 in an adequate install can sound. One 15 in a ported box can really get the job done. Also you get to suprise people with single woofer setup. The extra money you save can be used to upgrade your electrical system. (A 12XXX cost about 369 + shipping and a 15XXX cost about 399 + shipping)

Yeah I was lookin at those. Those are sick man. Very pricey, plus that one is 1600 watts at 4 ohms. I need a 2 ohm load. I love the look, very unique.

So 2-15's or 2-12's, that's the delema. I have an 2000 Acura TL. Might not be able to squeze 15's in there. What do you think?

I think I'm leaning towards the 2-12's with the TR2000. Also was wondering what kinda Battery can handle that kind of power. I'll probably hook my other amp for the components up to the OEM battery. And put a second one in the trunk somewhere. Do I need a new Alternator as well?

I just read up on the "Big 3". Is this something that will help me or will I need a second battery regardless? Maybe upgrade my original one then do the Big 3? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Looking to upgrade electrical system as cheap as possible and don't really want a second battery if I don't need it. Keep in mind that I will have 2 amps. The TR2000 and another 3-500 watt amp for my components.

Thanks guys

a second battery will be useless basically unless u have the alt to charge them ( at least thats the impression i was always under) theres a formula out there to calculate your approximate current draw, so maybe someone can help you out with that. Then id say go for the alt, do the big 3 and see where u stand. and then if absolutely necessary u always have the option of going back and upgrading more. goodluck

I'm finding the Tarantula D class 2000 watt amp on ebay for like $865. Should I be skeptical about this price since it retails for over $2000? Would paypal help protect me?

Also, component amp do you think an VGA320.4 would suffice 80x4 @ 4ohm or should I go with the VGA500.4 125x4 or would that be a little too much for my speakers. Ebay is selling the 320 for $199 and the 500 for $289!!!!!

You will have serious dimming of your lights without running a High Output alternator (14.5Volt and approx. 200Amp when running). A second battery will not help (as far as I know) since it makes up for what the alt. can't provide at 12.5Volt. I'd just 1/0 gauge wire from the batt., upgrade the big 3 and see how that works. Should do fine for daily driving and will still produce max rated wattage at 12.5V. but if you want max wattage at 14.5V you will need the HO alt.

with that much power you WILL need a high output alternator , and the formula is the toal rms power, times 2, divided by 13.8, and that equals the current draw, if youre a little but over youre alternators output youre fine youre just gona pull from you battery, if youre a lot over youre gona pull a lot from youre battery and it might be a problem, in youre case youre gona pull a whole ton , so yeah do a alternator, check out mralternator.com .

you sure as hell do , i got a single 12 xxx and in ONLY giving 550rms(temporary, just picked up a kicker kx 800.2 for 143!)and it is very impresive.

So should I go with ported? Cuft? I think it's called? I don't want sealed with only 1000 watts correct?
people keep telling me that a xxx is ment to go ported(not sure why)so for a 12 you would need 2.5 cubic feet "slot ported" suggested by the site, on 15's not sure got to check, but yeah do ported.

The person who is selling the Tarantula amp has a feedback rating of 0. I wouldn't trust that much money to someone who is new to ebay.

It sound like you have your heart set on getting two XXX subs, but trust me when I say that one is enought. I wouldn't hurt go get one and if your unhappy with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif to get another one. Is there any perticular reason that you want such an expensive amp? Many people have gone with the Hifonics 1500 to power the XXX, and for $220 it's hard to beat.

Thanks for the info 6three6mafia6.

XDrkmanX,

Ever since I got my first Soundstream Amp, that's all I really want. I'm in love with them. And when I saw the new Tarantula's I knew I was gonna have one eventually. Was looking at the TR1600.2 for $675 on ebay but then I saw the TR2000 for $875. I keep telling myself if it seems to good to be true then it usually is. I've been talking with the guy who is selling them and I expressed my concerns. Is it even worth persuing? Maybe C.O.D.? or should I go with the 1600.2? Only probelm with the 1600.2 is that I can only run 1 XXX sub on it because it is 1600 bridged at 4 ohms.

thanks again guys for all your help.
