Sorry for the Noob question guys.

I was wondering if you needed atleast a 2 channel amp to run 2 subs? Or can I get a Mono Amp for 2 subs and wire it like this:

2_2ohmDVC_2ohm.gif

I was thinking of getting a Soundstream TR2000. It's 2000 watts @ 2 ohms.

I originally was going with a single 12" RE XXX using a 4 ohm load. But if I can hook up 2 XXX subs at a 2 ohm load. 1000 watts each, that would be better right. As far as SQL?

Thanks

yes you can run 2 subs to a mono amp, are the XXX's dual vcs? if so what are both coils? im not too familiar with all the XXX stuff i just know theres a lot of hype here

and yea if u both XXX's are 4 ohm loads that wires down to 2 ohms and if your amp does 2000watts @ 2 ohm it would work.

Yea, you can do that. When it says mono it means it will only put out a mono signal. Since Subwoofer frequencies sound the same in stereo and mono, there wouldn't be a difference between a mono or a two channel amp.

You should have great SQL, generally people use more then 1000 watts for a XXX but who's to say it needs that much. You should like it, especially with two of them. Also since you will be using dual 2ohm woofers you can get a final impedance of 2ohm which is perfect for that amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

mono channel is fine for as many subs as you want. you just have to wire it up to that the final load is the desired one. also if your gonna run xxx's i believe most people say run at least 1400 watts to em. so i would get a bigger amp for 2 12"s , or give a 15" xxx 2000 watts.

OK....good. I think that is my better option 2-12" XXX ported with a TR2000 Mono Amp.

THE XXX are DVC's. I think you can get them in Quads to. I'm not really sure of the wiring advantages though.

What do you mean by what are both coils?

^^^ he means what are the impedance (ohm) rating of both coils. I would stick with 2 DVC, it will be a lot easier (and less complicated) to wire then 2 quads.

Also, I have seen people put around 1800-2400 watts to one. If you have room for 2 12's, I would just get 1 single 15 and run the full 2000 watts at it (gains down however //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif).

So 1-15" with 2000 watts would sound better then 2-12" with 1000 watts each?

So that's my delema, I'm pretty much set on the XXX and the Soundstream AMP. If only they made a slightly bigger Tarantula. I love the look of 2-12's but I don't want to sacrifice the sound or the potential of the sub(s).

Point taken....but what would be better is my concern. 1 15" XXX pumping 2000 watts or 2-12" XXX pumping 1000 watts each?

I s/w this dude who has a single 12" Brahma powered by a Soundstream TR880.2 bridged. He said it is insanely loud and clean. And Brahmas can handle even more then XXX's.

bramahs and xxx handle the same amount of power 1600, xxx's dont need a 1400 rms and cannt handle 2000(you would ruin the sub really quick like this), 700-1000 is enough to drive it to full excursion and deping on the box you have , just because its rated at 1600 rms dosent mean its a requirent thats a THERMAL rating, and brahmas can take a minimal of 600rmsfor its full potential if they got the biggest box.

and to answer youre question 2 12's at 1000 would defienently have more output than 1 15 with 2000rms theres a LOT more cone area, as a matter a fact you would ruin youre 15 with that much power over time.

Thanks 6three6mafia6. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I rather have 2-12's anyways. And I defintely don't want to ruin my XXX.

So should I go with ported? Cuft? I think it's called? I don't want sealed with only 1000 watts correct?
