Question regarding Ohm Impedance...

OK....my buddy has purhcased Two 2 ohm DVC subwoofers....and his question is this...

On the wiring diagrams I have attached to this thread provided by Rockfordfosgate.com....if you look at the single Subwoofer it is wired at a 1 ohm load....then...you wire the speakers parallel in the same fashion to achieve a .5 ohm load as shown in the OTHER diagram....we both understand this...but he is wondering...if you look at the diagram for the TWO subwoofers and notice that they are wired in series...meaning one sub is wired to the other...then the other sub is wired to the amplifier ( this is speculation...it could just be a misunderstanding by him looking at the diagram wrong) but anyways...he is asking if you wire both subs seperately at 1 ohm load as shown in the single subwoofer diagram...could you ultimately run a dual 2 ohm voice coil set of subwoofers at a 1 ohm load? or is it only a 2 ohm or .5 ohm load? He is wondering if the dual sub diagram just portrays that they are wired in a series or he is looking at it wrong or what....but can you wire some other way to achieve the 1 ohm load for 2 dual 2 ohm voice coil subs?

the dual-diagram is wired in paralell. Basically, you wire all the +'s to the amp and the same with the -'s. If you have two 2ohm DVC subs, than your choices are .5 and 2ohm. If you have two 4ohm subs, your choices are 1ohm or 4ohm. To answer your question, Unfornatunately, you cannot wire two 2ohm DVC subs to 1ohm. You can try and see what ohmload you come up with after box rise. I have a hercules wired at .5ohms. But, if you take a DMM and measure it at the amp, it will say .8ohms. This is because impedence and box rise. So if you wire it at .5ohms, you might actually get .9-1 ohms after box rise. What amp is it?

Your only options are:

Parallel-Parallel = Each sub wired to 1 ohm, then wired together in parallel to make a 0.5 ohm final load

Parallel-Series = Each sub wired to 4 ohms, then wired together in parallel to make a 2 ohm final load

Series-Parallel = Each sub wired to 1 ohm, then wired together in series to make a 2 ohm final load

Series-Series = Each sub wired to 4 ohms, then wired together in series to make an 8 ohm final load
