i dont really want to patch it thats why i wanted to know if that ring is what i need or do i need to buy a recone kit

i had a hole in my treo SSI sub from when i was drilling it into the box..and it went right through the surround. I never patched it, still beat it and there was NO SQ difference or loudness difference, and i sold it for like 250.00 on ebay explaining that there was a hole in the thing. I say patch it, and throw a fishman grill on it
