question on tutorial

what the tutorial is talking about is the bass boost or remote bass boost knob. have that all the way up so when you set your gains, you can't go any higher then the safe level by boosting it above the proper gain setting. But you should set your sub level on your HU to the max setting before you set your gain so that you have your input sensitivity set to a lower setting which makes the amp not work as hard and have less noise going to the sub.

Some people suggest keeping the treble and bass on the headunit at 0... which is how i have it. Like SkwurlyFab said, if you have your settings up, then your amp will work less. I should probably do that since my amp's gain is at around 2/3rds the way up.

Wrong. you will need to set all your EQ settings and bass, treble to "0" or "flat".

For the subwoofer volume control it means to set it to the max, because you wont get the full quality from your amps/sub if it's flat line. Sometimes, u wont even get a good response.
