question on ohms for the pros..

First off, what is the purpose of a DVC sub? My GUESS is that, for instance, if its a 4 ohm DVC, you can paralell it to one channel to make it a 2 ohm load? If this is correct, and i have an amp that puts out twice as much at 2 ohms than 4 ohms, would it be worth it to buy a dvc sub and run it to 2 ohms to get the benefit of the more amp power or would the dvc just drop the ohms to 2 but not get the added power from amp, meaning i would need a SVC 2 ohm sub to get the benefit of the added power from amp run at 2 ohm? (yes the amp is stable at 2 ohms and puts out a lot more at 2 ohm)

Thanks

The main purpose of having 2 coils is just so you have different wiring options. As far as the amp goes, a 2 ohm load is a 2 ohm load. Doesn't make any difference if it's a single 2 ohm coil or two 4 ohm coils wired in parallel, so yes it's worth it to buy a sub or subs that can be wired to a 2 ohm load so you can get more power from your amp.
