question on charging a capasitor?

what kind of wattage are you putting out, and does the dimming really bother you that much?!?! If not then don't worry about the big three untill you get the cash for a HOA... For the meanwhile just upgrade the wiring... its the cheapest of the three.

were can i get wire for that? should in be 1 gage? is that all i need?
Spelling > j00, friend. Sheesh.

Answer the questions asked first and then we'll have a better standpoint from which to offer advice. How much power are you going to be running? (RMS ratings rather than peak output as the latter is an immaterial rating)

Of all the suggested upgrades that have been posted upgrading your "Big 3" is by far the cheapest. For under $30 in heavy-duty cabling you can do this mod and for the most part, even without any real knowledge, it can be accomplished by yourself without necessitating having some shop do the install for you.

Most people would suggest using 1awg cable for the Big 3 upgrade but if your particular vehicle used really inferior wiring for the stock stuff even going to 4awg cable (if it is bigger than the stock stuff) would be helpful. I'd suggest go with the 1/0awg stuff and you'll not need to redo it in the future for anything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

http://www.weldingsupply.com is likely the most reliable and economical source of cable that size.

BTW, most newer caps charge themselves.

The stinger i had in my jetta had a voltage display that would actually show the stored charge, rather than system voltage, with a warning alarm that sounded while it was charging, and when it was discharged below 12v. I'm pretty sure that's how most of them work.

I don't know if it actually did anything or not, i was only running 600w rms on my 60a alty, no dimming.

yellow top + big 3 + caps = no dimming + less voltage drop = stable electrical system = my system

edit: to charge the cap, just use a testlight (circuit tester or whatever that shit's called)
